Our Ambassador Birds can not survive in the wild due to either the extent of their injuries or having been habituated to humans. Their individual temperaments make it possible for them to live comfortably under human care and participate in education programs.

Each Ambassador has a team of caretakers who provide them with multiple training and enrichment sessions a day. Training includes going to a scale so we can monitor their weight, voluntarily entering a kennel so they can be transported to programs, and flying to a perch or the trainer’s arm so they can be allowed to move about freely at programs, knowing they can be recalled to their trainer at any time.

Ambassadors are fed a species-appropriate diet, which may include rodents, fish, quail, or mealworms. Their enclosures include a variety of perching options, enrichment for them to interact with, and warming boxes and heated water bowls in the winter. They receive annual exams and other medical care as needed.
